Melrose Hill Special
Officially known as the Central Park Redux, as it’s a replica of the Madison model that adorns Central Park in New York. But Angelenos call it the Melrose Hill Special after the neighborhood in which you’ll find them. This is from the 1980s, modeled after a much older (1910s) version.
Metropolitan Double
Another model from the Union Metal Corporation, these cast-iron dual-lamp electroliers were a mid-1920s addition to Los Angeles. Many are still around today, especially in Hollywood. This one in particular is part of the Cahuenga Blvd. Corridor set.
Highland Avenue Single Genie “Special”
You’ll find these street lights along Hollywood Blvd in the heart of Hollywood - from the Chinese Theater to Vine St. Some of these are double-lantern, though the one depicted here is not. These replaced the Hollywood Special.
